Q 1 : can I use the existing keyboard to use MalayalaPathram?

Yes. MalayalaPathram uses normal keyboard to compose Malayalam text.

Q 2 : I have registered for this service. How do i get an email address: myname@malayalapathram.com?

TanilAnjal.com will soon provide a free email address with a mail storage space of 2MB. We will be sending the email id & the password to the registered users by mail shortly.

This will happen if your browser doesn't support Java. MalayalaPathram requires a Java-Enabled Browser. If your browser has Java support and even then if you face this problem, then check whether the Java & Javascripts are enabled in the browser settings. If disabled, set it enabled and then try MalayalaPathram.

Q 4 : While typing a message, i see only English & not Malayalam.

Num Lock key is used to toggle between Malayalam and English mode.
When the keyboard is in Malayalam mode, the characters being typed will appear in Malayalam Font.
When the keyboard is in English mode, the characters being typed will appear in English Font.
Use Num Lock key to toggle between Malayalam & English mode.

Q 5 : Can the mails sent by using MalayalaPathram be viewed directly using an email client software such as Microsoft Outlook.

If your email client software supports the display of the messages in HTML format in the message view window, then the Malayalam mails sent by using MalayalaPathram can be viewed directly in the message window. For example, Malayalam mails sent by using MalayalaPathram can be viewed directly in Microsoft Outlook.
If your email client software doesn't support the display of the messages in HTML format in the message view window, then the mails sent by using MalayalaPathram cannot be viewed directly. In this case, use the link 'If the Malayalam Message is not displayed, Click here to open in a new window'. available at the top of the message. When you select this link, a new window will be opened and the Malayalam message will be displayed.

Q 6: Can the Malayalam mails sent by using MalayalaPathram be viewed as it is, on any mail service provider like the Hotmail, Yahoo.

Some mail services such as Yahoo displays the messages in HTML format in their message view window. In such services, Malayalam mails sent by using MalayalaPathram can be viewed as it is, in the message window.
Some mail services such as Hotmail displays the messages in text format in their message view window. In such services, Malayalam mails sent by using MalayalaPathram cannot be viewed directly. In this case, use the link 'If the Malayalam Message is not displayed, Click here to open in a new window'. available at the top of the message. When you select this link, a new window will be opened and the Malayalam message will be displayed.

Q 7 : I received a Malayalam Mail. But I am not getting Malayalam text in the mail. How do I get?

If you are using an email client software to read the mail, refer Q5.
If you are using a web-based email service to read the mail, refer Q6.

Q 8 : I received a Malayalam Mail. As the Malayalam Message is not displayed, I tried to select the link 'If the Malayalam Message is not displayed, Click here to open in a new window'. But the link doesn't work. How do I view the Malayalam Mail?

This happens with some of the email client packages such as Lotus Notes. In this case, using the 'Save' command in your email client software, save the message as a HTML file in your local system. After saving, open the saved html file using a Java-Enabled browser such as Internet Explorer 5.0. Now, the browser will display the Malayalam mail.

Q 9 : How do i send an email to a user if his email client software doesn't support Java?

Use the SendMail type as 'Send Message as Text' to send the message.
When this option is used, the message will be sent as text and the mail recipient can use any email client software to receive the message. But the recipient requires the IndoWeb Malayalam font to read the message.
If the Malayalam font is already available in the recipient's system, then the message will appear directly in Malayalam. Otherwise, the user has to download and install the Malayalam font using the link available in the message.

Q 10 : I received a Malayalam Mail. Using the link in the mail message, I downloaded the Malayalam Font. But I am not getting proper Malayalam letters in the mail. How should I get?

If you are using Outlook Express(IE) 4.0(or above), set the Encoding from the View menu (View -> Encoding) to User-Defined. If the Encoding is other than User-Defined, Indian language characters will not appear properly.
